Los últimos cuantos días han sido despacios aquí en CARECEN. Solamente he hecho una llamadas follow-up con unos clientes de hace unos años, y también he inscrito los datos de la gente del taller a nuestro sistema. También hice un trabajito de espía - mi directora me pusó a llamar otras organizaciones en el área para preguntarles que es su precio para llenar el N-400. Al principio no entendí por qué tenía que llamar, pero entonces me di cuenta de que uno puede sacar más información de una persona que de un sitio de internet. Pués, las llamé y cuando me contestaron, dije que mi esposo ya tenía sus tres años de residencia y que queríamos llenar el N-400 pero que queríamos saber cuanto nos iba a costar. Me dieron todo tipo de información - cuanto cobran para la consulta inicial, para una consulta con un abogado, y para hacer el formulario en un taller. Me gustó mucho enterarme del hecho de que CARECEN todavía tiene los mejores precios en el área.

Otra cosa que hizo esta semana fue ayudar a una señora llenar su N-400 aquí en la oficina (había un problema el sábado y no podía llegar al taller). Pués, hay una parte de la aplicación que me dío una colera pero terrible. En la sección 7 del N-400, la persona solicitando ciudadanía tiene que hacer una lista de todas sus viajes fuera de los Estados Unidos desde que recibió la residencia permanente. Eso no debe de ser tan difícil cuando uno tiene los pasaportes para sacar las fechas, pero el problema es que 20 años de residencia quiere decir MUCHAS viajes. Además, en los pasaportes, no hay ninguna sistema de organización - los sellos están por todos lados. Ningún gobierno respeta que algunas páginas son para entradas y otras para salidas... Uff. Me llevó casi dos horas arreglando esa lista para la señora. Juuuueeee...

Pués, ya casi voy terminando con el día de hoy. No voy a estar haciendo unos post por un tiempito, dado a que ya me voy para Costa Rica en solo TRES DÍAS!! Al principio pensaba traer la compu, pero después me di cuenta que ni lo ocupo ni lo quiero tener conmigo. Puedo hacer post de lo que hice allá luego; por esta semana solo quiero estar con Daniel. Entonces, hasta el 17 de marzo!

The last couple of days have been slow here in CARECEN. I've only done some follow-up calls with some clients from a few years ago, as well as add the information of the people who went to the workshop to our system. I also did a little spy-work - my director had mi call other organizations in the area to ask what they charge to fill out the N-400. At first I didn't understand why I had to call, but then I realized you can get more information out of a person than from a website. Well, I called and when they answered, I said that my husband is about to have three years of residency and that we want to fill out the N-400, but that we want to know how much it's going to cost us. They gave me all kinds of information - how much they charge for the initial consult, to speak with a lawyer, and to participate in a workshop. I liked finding out that CARECEN still has the lowest prices in the area.

One other thing I did this week was help a lady fill out her N-400 here in the office (there was a problem on Saturday and she couldn't make it to the workshop). Well, there's one part of the application that makes me seriously mad. In Section 7 of the N-400, the person applying for citizenship has to make a list of all of his or her trips outside the United States since they became a permanent resident. It shouldn't be so hard when you have the passports to get the dates, but the problem is that twenty years of residency means LOTS of trips.. Moreover, there isn't any organizational system in the passports - the stamps are everywhere. No government gets that some pages are for entrances and some for exits... Ugh. It took me almost to make this lady's list. Sonofa...


Well, today's almost over. I won't be posting for a while, since I'm going to Costa Rica in just THREE DAYS!! At first I thought I would take the computer, but then I realized that I don't want it or need it. I can post about what I did there later on; for this week I just want to be with Daniel. So I'll be back March 17!
